Socent Grad Wins GMU Business Plan Competition

Congratulations to Scott Bauer, an MAIS in Social Entrepreneurship and MCSE alum, for winning first prize and the audience choice award at the Dean's 8th Annual Business Plan Competition! Scott has developed a mobile phone accessory that combines a compression sleeve with a magnetic case. The School of Business awarded him with $6,000 worth of prizes to help him turbocharge his new business. Second prize went to Iron Goat, an innovative green hay baling technology that increases the yield of hay by pelletizing it. The Social Impact Award went to a social enterprise that designed a computerized stuffed animal that helps autistic children develop communication skills.

With social entrepreneurs and social enterprises sweeping the contest's podiums this year, it's hard to deny that these are exciting times for social entrepreneurship!
