MAIS project and thesis information

Most MAIS students will complete their degrees with a final 2 to 5 credit project (MAIS 798) or 5 to 6 credit thesis (MAIS 799). For students admitted after Fall 2004, your project will be 2 to 5 credits or a thesis of 5 to 6 credits. This change is due to the requirement of the 1 credit MAIS 797 course (proposal writing) required of all students admitted after Fall 2004. The MAIS Executive Committee encourages our students to keep this project or thesis in mind from the onset of their studies, formulating and refining ideas, and reserving academic sources for this culminating work. To this end, many students find it helpful to take the required research and methodology course early in their program, applying those skills and keeping the project or thesis in mind as they advance in their studies.

In an effort to provide our students with a rich academic experience, the MAIS Executive Committee has set high standards for this culminating work in our students' master's studies. We urge early planning and availing of the university's many resources while working toward this goal.
