Drew Johnson, 1999
Drew Johnson, MAIS '99, is a highly accomplished strategic communications executive with more than 25 years of experience across the global sports marketing, media, and entertainment industry. He is a versatile storyteller and brand communications architect with cross-functional expertise spanning media and public relations, corporate and crisis communications, brand strategy, integrated marketing, social media, and content production.
As director of strategic communications for Octagon’s Olympics & Action Sports division, Johnson leads integrated multimedia initiatives to maximize business objectives for athletes, executives, brand partners, and non-profit organizations. He has demonstrated experience executing successful communications strategies, programs, and campaigns for Olympic gold medalists, hall of fame athletes, Fortune 500 companies, and leading non-profit organizations.
Johnson is a collaborative business partner with the unique ability to develop authentic and meaningful messaging that generates awareness and value for talent, brands, and organizations. His client-focused advocacy and strategic brand positioning have spanned marketing communications channels across the sports, entertainment, health, leisure, medical, technology, and philanthropic industries.
Prior to joining Octagon, he worked in the communications departments for the Washington Commanders (NFL) and Washington Capitals (NHL). A graduate of George Mason University with a BS in marketing and a MAIS in sports administration, Johnson was also a member of Mason’s baseball program. A Long Island, NY, native, Johnson resides in greater Portland, Maine with his family.
